The Everest Base Camp Trek is likely the most sought-after trek in the world, and with good reason too. While the prestige of summiting Everest is available only to a specialist few, Kathmandu Adventures can provide you with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to come face to face with this historic mountain.
- Experience the astonishing Khumba Mountains
- Become immersed in the colourful Sherpa villages
- Views of scenic forests, meadows and glaciers
What to Expect?
En route to Base Camp you will be able to view some of the most dramatic mountains of the Khumba region including Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu. Our trek to Base Camp begins with a flight to Lukla before a short trek to Phakding.
The trek is filled with intriguing wildlife like the Himalayan Tahr, musk deer, snow leopards and beautifully multi-coloured pheasants. Apart from the mountain scenery you will also encounter ancient Buddhist monasteries like that at Tengboche on our journey home. You will also pass over the Khumbu and Changri glaciers as you begin to pick out the colourful tents of Base Camp that stand out from the white and grey backdrop behind. A customary photo is always needed when you reach Everest Base Camp!
As we begin our trek home, down through Kala Patthar and Pheriche, you will still have the opportunity to witness some of the most spectacular views of Everest and the surrounding peaks. Towards the end of our journey you pass through lush forests of Rhododendron and pine before encountering the sherpa villages steeped in Buddhist tradition. This is a final chance to soak up some traditional Nepali culture.
