This double dive offers divers the opportunity to experience two of the most intact wrecks in the area. 30m minimum certification is required and a wreck certification plus redundant air will be required if you plan to penetrate the wrecks. Please bring 2 tanks, as we do not come back between dives.
The ex-HMAS Canberra is a magnificent wreck dive and Victoria's first artificial reef created for scuba diving. The wreck is 138m long and lies in 30m of water, off Barwon Heads. It has much to see, with the entire superstructure accessible, as well as the inside of the wreck for those trained in wreck penetration. Since 2009, when it was scuttled, the wreck has attracted a great deal of marine life and continues to be one of the most popular dives in Melbourne.
The J4 Submarine is a beautiful wreck and reef site and is the most accessible, dive-able submarine in Australia. The sub sits on its keel in around 26m of water. The conning tower is intact and in great condition, and the bow section broke off during scuttling and exposed the torpedo tubes, which makes this section easily accessible to divers without the need to penetrate the wreck. For those certified to penetrate, there are multiple hatch openings as entry points.
The alternate site due adverse weather conditions will be a double drift dive.
Certification required: ADV - 30M
